Settled: MCBURROWS v. TOWNE MORTGAGE CO.

Attorney Tomkowiak reports to FHCMD of a resolution in the federal court action of Hiram McBurrows Jr., v. Towne Mortgage Company alleging violations of the Fair Lending laws on the basis of his race, African American, when the defendant rejected his application for a mortgage for a condominium located at 5000 Towne Tower located in Southfield. In an effort to resolve the matter, the parties agreed to have Saul Green,former United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan act as a Facilitator. After hearing from both sides, Attorney Green recommended an award to the plaintiff. The terms of the facilitation are non-disclosed. The Honorable Laurie J. Michaelson was the assigned judge.
